An App to Promote Resiliency for Kindergarten through High School
Phoenix House was accustomed to traveling to schools to deliver 45 minute presentations. But they wanted to create an educational experience that would build mental health resilience for K-12 students enduring social isolation. They needed to repurpose their in-person program so that students could consume it virtually. And they weren't sure how to pull it off.
We worked with the Phoenix House CA team to script the Twenty-four 8-minute videos about mental health featuring their staff. Each mental health video lesson was also paired with a supporting interactive art skill video and with a series of related workbook activities.
In the end our team created 4 hours of scripted content accompanied by illustration and animation. The video content had a variety of formats to keep the students interested and personally connected to what they were learning. Here are some samples across age groups and subjects throughout the course:
Big New Ideas - The Main Content
Slow Down - Mindfulness Exercises
Hands On - Creative Exercises
Familiar Voices - Hearing from Peers
“My staff is very passionate—we truly live what we preach. When we go into a classroom, we're very hopeful that what we share sticks, but we don't know. This was one of the few times in our professional career where we actually saw a tangible final product that we poured our hearts into.”
